KARACHI - International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi University (KU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Doha Academy of Tertiary Studies/Education Trust, Republic of Mauritius, with the objective to initiate academic exchange and scientific cooperation between both the institutions. Director International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences Prof Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary on behalf of the ICCBS and Chairman DATS Nazir Khodabux signed the MoU in the MoU-Signing ceremony, held at ICCBS here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Iqbal said that the agreement would further enhance educational and research cooperation between Pakistan and Mauritius. He said that education was the sole solution to all problems of the country. Chairman DATS Nazir Khudabux said that Mauritian students felt very comfortable in Pakistan despite some security issues in the country. He said that the basic objective of the agreement was to initiate and promote scientific cooperation and academic exchange in various fields of sciences between DATS and ICCBS. He said that DATS was an established institute of post-secondary education, recognized by TEC, Mauritius, and had taken initiatives to complement its excellence in education. According to MoU, it was also agreed that major disciplines in which collaboration and cooperation will include the following fields: Marine, Chemical and biological sciences. It was also agreed that mutual workshops/seminar/ conferences will be organised jointly to develop linkages between academicians and researchers.
This agreement will be effective for a period of five years from the date of execution and may be extended by mutual agreement between both parties.
