3 notorious Lyari gangsters arrested

KARACHI - Three notorious Lyari gangsters were arrested from Superhighway while an alleged gangster of Lyari was killed in an encounter in Jackson area of Keamari on Tuesday.
The two notorious gangsters including Zahid aka Ladla, younger brother of Noor Muhammad aka Baba Ladla, was arrested with his closed aide Sarwar Baloch from their hideout situated at Superhighway.  Faisal Pathan, operational commander of Baba’s rival gang headed by Uzair Jan Baloch, was also arrested.
Sources said the accused persons were arrested in raids conducted by the secret agency and were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation. Police high ups declined to know about the arrest of prominent Lyari gangsters who were wanted in hundreds of criminal cases including murders, attempt to murders, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and others.
Faisal Pathan was also apprehended from Superhighway along with his four companions and three women when he was trying to flee to Quetta from Karachi. On the other side, a gangster was killed when police raided the gangsters’ hideout in Jackson area. Police officials said the accused was associated with Sajjad Khatri group of Lyari gangsters and was wanted to the police in various cases of crime. The body of the victim was shifted to morgue, Sohrab Goth for identification after medicolegal formalities at Civil Hospital Karachi.
Separately, two suspects Ghulam Sarwar and Ismail were arrested after an alleged encounter with the police in Ferozabad area. Police officials said both of them were injured during the exchange of fire while their one companion was managed to escape. Police officials also claimed to have recovered two pistols and a snatched motorcycle from their possession. Cases were registered against them.
Another 5 killed in Karachi: Five people including an alleged gangster were gunned down in separate incidents of targeted killings here on Tuesday.
An alleged gangster was killed in Lyari. Police said the victim was identified as Saeed Raza, 18.
The victim was a member of Sheraz Comrade group of Lyari gangsters. He was shot dead apparently by his rival gang members on DD Chaudhry Road. Police said the victim was recently got bail and released from the jail.
Separately, a teenage girl was killed inside her house in Mohabbat Nagar, Malir. Police said the victim was identified as Amber, 18. Police said she was recently got engaged and her wedding was scheduled soon. Police further said she was shot thrice and died on the spot. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy from where her family took it away without legal formalities. Police said the actual motive and nature of the incident have yet to be ascertained. Further investigation was underway. Moreover, Asad Habib, 16, was shot dead by unidentified persons near Old CIA Centre in Saddar police precincts. Police said initial investigation suggested that unidentified culprits shot him dead when he offered resistance in a robbing bid. The body was taken to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy.
Meanwhile, a security guard namely Zaheer Abbas was gunned down near Ambala Sweets in Tipu Sultan police precincts. Police officials said the victim was shot dead by his companion namely Taqi Shafi after an exchange of hot words over some unexplained reasons. The accused has been arrested.
In another incident, a worker of MQM was gunned down and another wounded in a targeted attack at Nazimabad No-6. Police said the victim was identified as Shahrukh Shahid, 28, while the injured as Faizan Ali. They were standing outside the victim’s shop when two armed riders came and opened indiscriminate fire on them and fled. Police added the victim was a worker of MQM. It shifted the dead body and the injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the incident.
