Cabinet makes a splash in Arabian Sea today

QUETTA - First time in the history of Pakistan, the Federal Cabinet will meet in the port city of Gwadar on Wednesday (today). The meeting will be held on board a commercial vessel in the Arabian Sea. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will chair the meeting. Political observers and government officials are attaching great importance to the meeting of Federal Cabinet in Gwadar and they are of the view that main objective of the holding of this meeting in Gwadar is to convey a message to the world that Gwadar Port is fully functional and this move would attract the investors across the world and country for investment in Gwadar. The other objective of the meeting in remote town of Balochistan is to give a message to its people that the federal government is serious in solving problems of people of the province. Official sources said that PM Gilani had taken personal interest for arranging cabinets meeting in Gwadar so that importance of the Gwadar Port could be highlighted. The sources said that the meeting would also focus Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan Package and expected to take many decisions regarding implementation of the package. Next National Finance Commission (NFC) Award will also be signed in Gwadar. Signing ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Gilani, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shahand and NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti.
