KARACHI - Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi General Secretary Abdul Wahab has strongly condemned the torture and baton-charge by police on the workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who staged their peaceful protest against the illegal closure of road adjacent to Bilawal House Chowrangi. In a statement issued on Sunday, Abdul Wahab said that if the provincial government of PPP had implemented the court order, then the situation would not have been created. Criticising the PPP govt, he said that staging protests and demos was a democratic and Constitutional right of any party, adding, that the attack on the workers of PTI by the police and PPP activists had reflected the feudal mindset of the PPP govt.
JI OPPOSES
PRIVATISATION OF PSM
Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has reiterated that JI will continue its struggle against the privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) alongwith Pakistan Steel Labour Union (PASLU). Hafiz Naeem said that the top most priority of JI was to continue its struggle against the privatisation of PSM and PIA, adding, that the privatisation of the national institutions would not be accepted at any cost. He expressed these views during a meeting with the leaders of PASLU and other trade unions in a reception hosted by JI at Idara-e-Noor Haq here on Sunday.
President PASLU Haji Khan Lashari, General Secretary Zafar Khan, JI General Secretary Abdul Wahab and JI Naib Ameer Karachi Nasrullah Khan Shajih also spoke on the occasion.
JI Naib Ameer Muzaffar Hashmi, Deputy Secretary Rashid Qureshi, JI Information Secretary Zahid Askari and others were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Hafiz Naeem said that the government while following the policies of US and IMF is destroying the national institutions and pushing thousands of labourers and their family towards starvation.
He further said that the JI is trying its level best for national consensus against the privatisation of the national institutions, adding, that the PASLU and other trade unions should form Standing Committees in this regard. “The PSM was one of the profitable institutions of the country, few years ago and how it turned into a destructive institution,” he questioned.
On the occasion, Zafar Khan said that the production of PSM now stands at zero and the institution was not able to pay salaries to the employees.
He said that the PASLU will retaliate strongly against the privatisation, adding, that it is preparing a working paper against the privatisation.
PTI CONDEMNS ATTACK ON KARACHI RALLY
Staff Reporter from Islamabad adds: Central Secretary Information Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Dr Shireen Mazari, has condemned the violence perpetrated against a PTI protest in Karachi by PPP armed goons and Sindh policemen who acted more like PPP hired guns.
As a result many of young unarmed Insafians (workers) and senior leaders have been injured. Mazari said PTI was exercising its right to peaceful protest against the deliberate non-compliance of a court order demanding the illegally constructed wall constructed by Zardaris on public property. She said leaders cannot simply usurp public property and deny the public access on public roads just to bolster their own security.
Furthermore to unleash baton charge on unarmed PTI protestors, instead of arresting the armed PPP goons who attacked the PTI peaceful protest, showed that the police in Karachi continue to be in the grip of the political mafia, which is why they cannot protect innocent citizens. Mazari said it is time Bilawal should stop whining behind bulletproof glass and illegal walls and grow up politically as he grows in years.
His obsession with PTI and especially its Chairman’s national popularity as a leader has unhinged him if his utterances are to be believed, she said.
