KARACHI - Interpol has arrested the absconder and notorious chief of Lyari gang, Uzair Baloch, from Dubai International Airport on Monday. Uzair Baloch was wanted by the judicial authorities of Pakistan in connection with the targeted killings, extortion and other criminal cases.
Baloch and others were declared proclaimed offenders by the Anti-Terrorism Court on July 23, 2013 in the murder case of Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu. Afterwards, police raided his residence several times but failed to capture him.
Sindh government had sent documents seeking red warrants of the suspect to the federal government. Later, the federal government contacted the Interpol through Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for arrest of the accused.
TTP MILITANT AMONG 4 KILLED
Three people were gunned down in separate incidents of target killing while an alleged militant of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan was killed in an encounter here on Monday.
A man was shot dead in Jhatpat Market, Lyari within the jurisdictions of Kalakot police station. Police said the victim was identified as Mir Baloch, resident of the similar locality. Police said the victim was the brother of Tahir Badoo, who was the close-aid of Lyari gangster Uzair Baloch. Police said the rival group was involved in the murder. Further investigation is underway.
Separately, two men including Mushahid Khan and Irfan Masih were gunned down during an armed clash between the two neighbours in Korangi area within the jurisdictions of Korangi Industrial Area police station. Police said the victims sustained bullet injuries during the clash which started on a petty issue.
Police added both the victims belonged to opponent groups. Police shifted the victims to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctor pronounced their deaths. Police have yet to lodge an FIR.
Meanwhile, Kalri police station claimed to have killed a militant of TTP in an encounter at Maripur Road. Police said three suspects were busy looting motorists at the said place when a police patrol reached the site after being informed. The suspects after seen the police van resorted to firing and tried to escape from the scene. Police retaliated and during an exchange of fire, a suspect was killed on the spot. His two other accomplices managed to flee from the spot under the cover of firing. Police said the suspect was a local commander of TTP Swat. Police also claimed to have recovered a pistol from his possession.
