Eight more killed in Karachi firing incidents

At least eight more people including a police constable were killed in separate incidents of target killings here in Karachi on Saturday. According to police sources, some unknown motorcyclists shot dead Abdul Rahim in Ranchor Line area of Karachi. Unidentified armed men opened fire on a passenger bus near Bismillah Chowk, Pak Colony in which three persons including a police constable were killed. Police said that the deceased were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem, adding that the identities of bodies could not be ascertained. The attackers managed to flee the scene after firing, police said. A man identified as Asif, who was injured in clash between two rival groups in Godhra area of New Karachi, also died in hospital. Two dead bodies were found from a bag in Shah Faisal Colony. Police told media persons that they were kidnapped first and then killed. Another man was killed in a firing incident near Safoora Chowrangi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Shops, markets and business centres were closed soon after the firing incident. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) organised peace rally in the city for restoration of peace in which the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and other parties also participated. The lawyers on Saturday boycotted courts to condemn the brutal killing of two lawyers Fahim Ahmed and Saleem Bhatti in the city. The Supreme Court Bar Association and other lawyers associations had announced a boycott of courts and routine duties for Saturday. The boycott was being observed throughout the country by the lawyers.
