KARACHI - Five people were killed in separate incidents of violence and targeted killings on Friday.Body of an alleged member of the Lyari gangster group was found in Mawatch Goth in the Maripur police remits. The deceased was identified as Dur Mohammad alias Durra, 26, son of Nazar Mohammad. Sub-Inspector Mohammad Atif said that the deceased belonged to Shiraz Comrade Group of Lyari gangsters and the unidentified culprits first kidnapped him and later shot him thrice in his head before dumping his body at the abandoned place. The police officer said that deceased was wanted to police in various cases and was also declared absconder by the court. The police officer suspected that companions of the culprits might have killed him over unexplained reasons.In another incident related to the gangsters, Sajid Brohi, 25, son of Saleem Brohi was gunned down near his home in Jehanabad area in the limits of Pak Colony police station. SHO Abdul Moid said that the deceased used to work at the garments factory. Two armed men targeted the victim shortly after he left home to go for work. He was shot once in his head and died on the spot. His body was taken to the Civil Hospital, Karachi for autopsy. The officer said that the area where the incident took place was once the stronghold of Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu group. He said that the initial investigation suggests that the victim was killed by the gangsters but it has yet to known which group of gangsters is involved in the incident.Another body was found from Ramswami area in the jurisdiction of Garden police station. The deceased was identified as Junaid, 27, son of Habib. SHO Athar Malik said that the unidentified culprits shot and killed the victim after kidnapped him from his denting and painting shop in Ramswami. He said that the deceased had no affiliation with any party and belonged to the Urdu -speaking family.Another body of a young man identified as Shehzad, 24, son of Ghulam Hussain Chandio was found from the bushes near Super Highway in Sohrab Goth police precincts. DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said that the deceased was associated with the transport business and was kidnapped two days ago when he left home situated in Jamshed Quarters area to buy medicine for his wife. He said that the victim’s body was placed in blanket and his hands and legs were also tied with ropes, adding that the culprits shot him thrice and also marks of torture were found on his body.A puncture shop owner, namely Imran, 24, son of Aslam was shot and killed when at least two armed men riding a motorcycle targeted him at his shop situated in Buffer Zone in Taimoria police remits. SHO Sajid Javed said that the initial investigation suggests that the incident took place over personal enmity.A young man identified as Athar Omar, 27, son of Mohammad Khan succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the CHK. Police officials said that the victim was injured in a firing incident near his home in Rabbani Mohalla in Baldia police limits. Police officials suspected that personal enmity could be the reason behind the incident.
