Security at Quaid’s mausoleum beefed up

KARACHI - Security arrangements at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah have been intensified following the possible security threat by an outlawed terrorist organisation.
Heavy contingent of law enforcers including commandos, Rangers and police have been put on high alert inside and outside the mausoleum.
Law enforcers including Rangers and police have also set up their check posts and enhanced the snap-checking around the mausoleum. Barricades have also been placed on the roads around the mausoleum.
Sources said the federal interior ministry had also instructed the authorities concerned to monitor the vehicles with LPG cylinders on the entry routes of the City whether an explosive device was planted in the vehicle or not.
They pointed out that a ban has also been imposed on the entry of all vehicles inside the mausoleum. “There are serious threats of terrorism by a banned outfit,” said the Brigade police station SHO, Ghulam Nabi Afridi. “We are allowing the visitors after proper checking.” He said that the law enforcers would remain put on high alert for the security of the mausoleum until further orders.
It is worth mentioning here that the intelligence agencies have had warned earlier about the possible terrorist attack by the defunct separatist movements of Balochistan. The first warning had been given after the attack on Quaid-e-Azam Residency in Ziarat, Balochistan. The security beefed up last year prior to the Independence Day when outlawed separatists gave a warning to attack the mausoleum.
