KARACHI (PPI) - Sindh government on Friday tightened security at all government, private offices, all mosques and Imam Bargahs besides speeding up crack down against illegal Afghan immigrants and other militant organizations. Sources in police department told that the police and other law enforcement agencies have been directed to make fool proof security arrangements in the city in view of bomb blasts in NWFP. Sources told that during the ongoing crack down in Sindh province against illegal immigrants at least 150 Afghan nationals and others have been arrested by law enforcement agencies in different parts of the city during two days. In view of the bomb blast incidents in Peshawar, Lahore and other cities, law enforcement agencies are closely monitoring shopping centers and public places where surveillance cameras have been set up to monitor and counter all possible threats. On Friday Police in large number were deployed out side mosques and government offices while enhanced patrolling and snap checking was carried out. Law enforcement agencies also held flag march in different areas including North Nazimabad Town, Liaqatabad Town and Gadap town areas. Police officers dressed as civilians are also strictly monitoring pedestrians, motorcyclists and people in slum localities. All emergency units including the police, rangers, other intelligence agencies, fire brigade units, bomb disposal squads and rescue services were on high alert to thwart possible threat. Contingents of Elite police have been deployed at different places including airport, railway stations, bus stands, parks and all public gathering points. All senior high-ups of police were monitoring their respective areas. Law enforcement agencies have also been deployed at all entry and exit points of Sindh borders where pickets have been established and strict random checks started.
