'No compromise on desecration

LAHORE Muslim Ummah will never compromise on sanctity of the Holy Quran and they should strongly protest against the desecration of the Holy Book by the American pastor, said Justice (r) Nazir Akhtar. Presiding over a sitting at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan here on Thursday, he said that burning of Holy Book was not a separate incident as it linked with many episodes in which the Muslim Ummah had been attacked. Nazaria Pakistan Trust (NPT) and Pakistan Movement Workers Trust jointly organised the sitting to condemn the desecration of the Holy Quran in American Church and its international repercussions. NPT Vice-chairman Prof Dr Rafique Ahmed conducted the meeting. He said the US government had not announced severe punishment for the pastor, so it was the duty of Muslim Ummah to push the US government for awarding punishment to the pastor. The enemies of Islam had been attacking the Muslims centre of love with a conspiracy, he said. But, the recent attack had made the Ummah united, he observed. Dr Rafique said the US society had lost its moral values and the country recognised for its prisons. Drunken parents are killing their children, about 7 million people are imprisoned in the US, he told. Yet, he added, entire West was not against Islam and we could bring positive changes in their society by preaching Islam. Jamat-e-Islami leader Aslam Saleemi stressed the need for unity among the Muslims. He said the OIC should present a resolution in the UN for ensuring the holiness of all religions of the world. Ajmal Niazi said that despite conspiracies against Islam, no one could deter the light of the religion. He said Pope Benedict should condemn desecration of the Quran. Dr Fareed Paracha said that the incidents were the part of the Wests notorious plans against Islam.
