PHF flays exclusion of hockey

LAHORE - The Pakistan Hockey Federation women wing secretary has criticised the organisers of the Inter-provincial Games for excluding women hockey from the event scheduled to be held at Peshawar. Addressing a press conference called for acknowledging the support of media, sports board and other departments for the successful organisation of the inaugural Prime Minister Gold Cup, Ms Parveen Gill said that national women team has got more time to prepare for the 2nd Junior Asia AHF Cup which was to be held at Colombo on November 1 to 9 as the event has been postponed and now the team will train for participation in the 5th Asia Cup to be held at Kuala Lumpur on December 13 to 21. She said that invitation has also been extended to Belgium, India and China for a bilateral series and the series against Belgium is likely to get positive response. Counting the domestic events, she said that the national championship will be held at Sindh in September-October while its final date will be confirmed later. On the sidelines of the championship, coaches and umpires clinic will also be held. Before that, the national players will figure in the Fatima Jinnah Gold Cup from August 7 to 24 at Quetta while the Quaid-e-Azam Cup will be held at Peshawar after Eid, she added.
