LAHORE - The PPP and ANP are seriously considering the option of making an electoral alliance ahead of the upcoming Local Bodies elections in Punjab.
In this connection, leaders of the two parties had a meeting at Lahore on Friday to explore the possibilities of cooperation in the local elections.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Secretary General ANP and Manzoor Ahmed Khan, ANP President Punjab called on PPP central Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo to discuss the issue.
According to a Press release, ANP leaders expressed their party’s desire to seek cooperation of the PPP as the two parties shared identical views on political issues. .
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo earlier welcomed the ANP delegation at the PPP Punjab Secretariat and stated during the meeting that both the parties were the natural allies who had struggled for the restoration of democracy and its continuity.
He further said that the ANP always extended its hand of co-operation whenever PPP’s previous government sought its help to resolve the most critical political and Constitutional issues.
He stressed that it was dire need of the country that democratic, liberal and progressive political forces should get united to play the role of an effective Opposition.
