No unscheduled loadshedding: Pepco

LAHORE The Pakistan Electric Power Company has once again ensured the consumers that there will be no unscheduled loadshedding across the country. As per statement, MD Pepco Rasul Khan Mahsud chaired a high level meeting in Wapda House on Friday to discuss the power situation in the wake of annual canals closure and delivery of furnace oil to thermal power plants and chalk out a comprehensive load management plan. The meeting took stock of the availability of power in the system and took a number of decisions to ensure that there is no unannounced load management, the statement said. The MD issued strict instructions to the Chief Executive of all distribution companies to formulate their load management plans and inform the consumers. It was also decided that the distribution companies would be informed about the availability of power to enable them to chalk out their load management plan accordingly. It was decided that apart from dissemination of information about loadshedding through media, the services of mosques in their respective areas of jurisdiction should also be utilised, the statement stated. The meeting discussed in detail various proposals to minimise the impact of the present shortfall in power generation and laid out priorities so that economic activities as well normal work are least affected. The managing director issued strict instructions to all chief executives officers of DISCOs that the consumers should be informed well in advance about the schedule of the loadshedding, so that they can plan their work accordingly. He directed that the demand of industry should be met on top priority basis. Every effort should be made to satisfy the industrial demand, he emphasised. The MD took strict notice of complaints that the staff in customer service centers does not respond to grievances of the consumers. He issued instructions to the chief executives to post competent persons with all the necessary information at these centres so that the complaints of consumers can be addressed promptly. The meeting expressed gratitude to the consumers for extending cooperation to Pepco and the distribution companies and regretted the inconvenience caused to them. The meeting was attended among others by chief executives of distribution companies, chief financial officer M Razi Abbas, Muhammad Khalid, DG (EM&C), Muhammad Ishaq Bhatti, GM (R&CO) and other senior officials.
