Inefficient heads of PR departments to be changed: Minister
 
 
 

Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique Monday said inefficient and lethargic heads of important departments of railways will be replaced by eligible, competent officers.
In a media briefing here in Lahore, Railways minister said that employees faced political pressure during last tenure and lots of problems were created due to appointments of "corrupt" officers in this organization in the past.
He stressed that during incumbent government there would not be any appointment or transfer on political basis.
He added that all the offices would be headed by eligible and honest officers with track record of good performance, and having required seniority.
He assured that the issue of General Manager Operations would be resolved in a few days.
Khawaja Saad said that re-structuring plan of railways was being prepared, adding that it would be finalized after joint consultation with trade union, experts and retired employees.
He told media that a five-year vision would be shaped out which would be reviewed each year.
"I have focused on locomotives, improvement of tracks and freight trains. I have ordered to improve services of four trains--Tez Gam Express, Qaraquram, Quetta and Karachi Express by July 31", he said.
He informed the media that new and restored locomotives would be included next year in which two third would be specified for freight trains. He also announced to launch two more freight trains soon.
Railways Minister said that an independent Vigilance Cell would be set up which would be headed by a retired judge after removal of many inefficient careless legal officers.
He told media that a Grade 20 officer from Press Information Department would be deputed as Director Public Relations.
Railways minister was hopeful that with concerted efforts complete turn around was possible for this important state entity.
