LAHORE - PML-N workers and supporters offered prayers in thanksgiving for the successful heart surgery of their leader Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in London yesterday.
Party workers and Lahorites in general remained attached with the minute-to-minute proceedings in the London hospital. Pakistani TV channels ran marathon transmission to focus on the open heart surgery of the PM and to keep the people informed about the updates on the same.
During this course, people offered special prayers at Zuhr and Asr times while the PML-N leaders and the workers arranged gatherings at their respective residences and offices to pray for the health and early recovery of Nawaz Sharif.
The party workers slaughtered goats to offer Sadqa for the health of the prime minister in addition to holding Quranic recitation.
At the government offices, civil secretariat and other public departments, the civil servants held gathering to offer prayers for the PM health while Punjab Cabinet specially met for the same purpose.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, in a statement, wished earlier recovery of the prime minister and thanked Allah Almighty for the successful surgery. PML-N women, youth and minority wings also extended their best wishes for the premier.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman organised a special gathering at this residence to offer prayers for early recovery of Nawaz Sharif. Addressing the gathering, the minister said that Nawaz Sharif has ambition to do good for the whole Muslim world as such Muslims all over the world were praying for his health.
Mujtaba said Nawaz Sharif is a brave and patriotic Pakistani whose heart beats for the prosperity and development of the country.
On social media, thousands of fans of Nawaz Sharif sent messages of best wishes for his early recovery and long life. Among them included people from all walks of life. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, daughter of the Prime Minister, through her tweeter messages kept the nation abreast of the surgery of her father. She was first to announce the successful operation of the prime minister following which a wave of satisfaction rolled through the people.
They greeted each other and shared the joy by distributing sweets and food among the poor.
