LAHORE - Calling Bushra Rehman ‘Daughter of Pakistan’, The Nation Editor-in-Chief Dr Majid Nizami Wednesday handed gold medal to the noted writer. He also declared NPT Vice Chairman Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad ‘Son of Pakistan’.Dr Majid Nizami, as a chief guest, said that Bushra Rehman deserved the award for her services for the country. NPT arranged the sitting at a local hotel. Those who spoke on the occasion included Prof Dr Rafique Ahman, SM Zafar, Bushra Rehman, Asif Bhalli, Prof Dr Parveen Khan.HNPIP Director Absar Abdul Ali, NPT Secretary Shahid Rasheed, Adeeb Javedani, Prof Waqar Ahamd and others. SM Zafar said that Bushra fought for women rights as a good activist both inside and outside of the parliament. He said that Bushra had qualities of many in her. CriticiSing Protection of Pakistan Bill, he said, the need was to introduce a new law Protection of Citizens of Pakistan Bill instead. Dr Rafique Ahmad said Bushra was a committed Pakistani and her writings reflect thoughts of Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam. She talks about patriotism and her writings promote cause of Pakistan, he added. He said that her novels, dramas, columns give a clear picture of her philosophy of life and its purpose. Dr Majid Nizami, Dr Mian Nawaz Sharif, Molana Abdul Sattar Niazi, SM Zafar, Waseem Sajjad, Zameer Jafery, Mushtaq Yousufi and many other personalities praised her writing. They were on the same page while defending her bold stance on ideology of Pakistan. Justice Aftab Farrukh said that she never sold her pen and never compromised on her principles. PML-Q leader Ch Zaheer Ahmad said he had a great praise for Bushra Rehman who defended her arguments boldly on the assembly floor. Bushra Rehman paid gratitude to all those who participated in the sitting. She also lauded the Dr Majid Nizami. She said she earned nothing in her life except her love for the country.
