LAHORE - The Lahore High Court has dismissed the petition of its own clerk Tanzeel-ur-Rehman allegedly involved in Kasur child abuse scandal.
Rehman had filed petition that the matter was sub judice but the police took him in custody. The Registrar office objected to the petition holding that it was non-maintainable.
The petitioner, however, challenged the objection of the registrar office and said that it had no powers to object the petitions.
He argued the police had already killed his brother in their custody and now he had been taken into custody. Rehman apprehended that he would also be killed by the police in custody. The petitioner prayed the court to order the police for his release. After hearing the arguments of the petitioner’s counsel, a two-judge bench maintained the objection of the registrar office and dismissed his petition.
Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik had already suspended Tanzeerul Rehman for his alleged involvement in Kasur scandal. Earlier this month, the country was jolted by ‘the largest-ever child abuse scandal in Pakistan’s history’ after the discovery of 400 videos recording more than 280 children being forced to have sex.
Most of the victims were under 14 but include a six year old boy who was forced to perform a homosexual act and a 10 year old schoolgirl who was filmed being molested by a 14 year old boy.
