LAHORE - District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal paid surprise visits to Shadman, Wahdat Road, Gulshan-e-Ravi and Islampura Sunday Bazaars and announced to exempt all Sunday Bazaars of City from parking fee.The DCO visited the Sunday Bazaars without any intimation and expressed his displeasure over the poor arrangements and sale of rotten fruits and vegetables in the bazaars. He directed the administration and Market Committee to pay full attention on cleanliness and not give permission any body to sale substandard fruits and vegetables. He also warned the administration to show full interest for arranging bazaars further directing prices of products should be less than the open market. He also presented a cash award of best stallholder at Shadman Bazaar. The DCO took serious notice of selling rotten vegetables and fruits in bazaars and issued warning to concerned officers to take immediate measures to improve the situation. He himself discarded the rotten vegetables and fruits and warned stallholders not to sell such vegetables and fruits.While taking notice of consumers’ complaints, Noorul Amir ordered to provide more space for consumers in the bazaars. He also directed to make zoning of bazaars so that people could get easy access to their relevant items. He directed to cover the whole bazaars with tents keeping in view the summer season. On a complaint of a citizen he also directed to include civil society in the administration of Sunday Bazaars so that civil society could pay its vital role for improvement of the Bazaars. He said that he would not compromise on quality of food items. He also directed to improve the cleanliness of Sunday Bazaars and he would take every step to protect the rights of citizens.Meanwhile, Noorul Amin paid surprise visit to Government Said Mitha Hospital at Walled City and taken notice of poor cleanliness situation at hospital and directed the hospital administration to pay full attention on cleanliness.
