LAHORE - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, here on Thursday.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and promotion of relations among the provinces came under discussion. Both the chief ministers agreed to further promote inter-provincial harmony.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that joint efforts will have to be made for forwarding Pakistan. He said that stubbornness has caused a great loss to the nation and the country therefore, now, time has come to work for progress and stability of the country by setting aside all the differences.
He said that Pakistan consists of four units along with Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir and the country will make progress only when these units will become developed. He said that we have to work jointly for the progress and prosperity of the motherland. Pakistan is all of us and national unity and brotherhood will have to be promoted for its development, he added.
The chief minister said that people living in Sindh are our brothers. He said that Punjab government has also included girl and boy students of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Baluchistan, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan in its educational programmes which is resulting in promotion of national solidarity and harmony.
Shehbaz Sharif said that we have to make Pakistan stronger through unity and for this purpose; national interests will have to be given priority over personal interests. He said that all the four provinces of Pakistan and federal government are moving ahead with complete harmony in the war against terrorism. He said that the decisions taken with collective wisdom and joint efforts will prove successful and expressed the hope that Pakistan will become a haven of peace.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed good wishes for Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and also gave a bouquet to him.
Later, Sindh Chief Minister was seen off by Chief Minister Punjab at the airport. Syed Murad Ali Shah thanked Punjab Chief Minister on hospitality.
Separately, Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Senator Lt Gen (r) Abdul Qayyum met Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that sincere efforts being made under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif are proving fruitful and the country is making rapid progress. He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a great project of progress and prosperity of the region including Pakistan and the entire country will benefit from its fruits.
Interest of different countries in this project augers well, he added. Shehbaz Sharif said that enemy does not like CPEC but no conspiracy will be allowed to succeed against the project.
Senator Lt Gen (r) Abdul Qayyum paid tributes to the services of Chief Minister and said that Shehbaz Sharif has set new records of public service and his extraordinary performance is being lauded everywhere. He said that Shehbaz Sharif made quality, speed and transparency as an example in development projects.
