Govt seeks legal status of land acquiring notification

LAHORE The provincial government while taking serious notice of the notification issued by Defence Housing Authority for acquiring the land owned by the provincial govt, has directed the authorities concerned to submit a report about legal status of such a notification for preparing future strategy of the govt, sources informed TheNation. Following the directions, Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Sami Saeed presided over an urgent meeting in order to review the legal status and other aspects of the notification here on Tuesday. A number of officials including secretaries of concerned departments, Member Board of Revenue, Commissioner , DCO , LDA Director General and Executive District Officer Revenue Zulfiqar Ghuman, and some other officials participated in the meeting, the sources added. The meeting discussed future steps and other measures, essential for resolving the issue. While talking to this scribe, EDOR Zulfiqar Ghuman said the CDG authorities had hired the services of the legal experts, who would not only provide legal opinion but also prepare case if they deemed it fit under relevant laws. On the other hand, an official of the LDA on the request of anonymity said: The land is owned by the provincial government and does not fall in LDAs controlled areas.
