'N to move SC against unresolved subjects

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE PML-N Senator and Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab, Pervaiz Rashid has said the federal government, under its unconstitutional powers, has taken over the control of provincial autonomy granted under the constitution. Unfortunately, the federal government has failed to grant autonomy to the provinces under the constitution and is trying to create hurdles in its implementation, he said, adding that in this way federal government was destroying the real spirit of provincial autonomy. He said only 40 out of 160 institutions had been given to the provinces whereas the remaining 120 departments ha been kept by the federal government and was conspiring to maintain its control over their assets and the income of billions of rupees. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said the federal government in violation of the constitution had usurped workers welfare institutions, hospitals, tourists centres and evacuee properties whereas as per provincial autonomy granted under the constitution, all these institutions should be under the control of provinces. He said the issue of complete autonomy to the provinces would be raised in the meeting of Council of Common Interests and if no progress was made, then the extreme step of going to the Supreme Court would be taken. Illegal control of federal government over the provincial autonomy will not be tolerated at all, he warned in a press release issued here on Friday. Meanwhile, the Punjab govt on Friday transferred one officer, while five probationers were posted as Assistant Commissioners (Under Training).
