LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) carried out a massive cleanliness and awareness drive in the rural and less developed Union Councils of the city to improve the state of cleanliness there and to sensitize local residents at large about proper disposal of waste.
More than 200 tons of waste was disposed of in the result of cleanup operation which was consisted of removal of open heaps, de-silting of drains and manual sweeping. Communication team of LWMC sensitised villagers about Solid Waste Management and responsibility of community in its maintenance during a massive drive composed of camping, public briefing, door stepping and leafleting at the center of the village. Locals included political advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Talha Barki joined the mobilisation activity besides commending it sincerely.–Staff Reporter
