UET okays Rs2.83b budget

LAHORE - The University of Engineering & Technology syndicate approved Rs 2.836 billion budget with deficit of Rs 77.669 million for the year 2016-17.

Chairing the meeting, UET Vice chancellor Fazal Ahmed Khalid briefed on budget item wise.

A sum of Rs 3497.21 million has been allocated for development projects. It included Rs 1923.526 million for Establishment of University of Engineering & Technology Lahore sub campus Narowal, Rs 73.500 millions for setting up of Center for Energy Research & Development at KSK Campus of UET Lahore and Rs 1500 millions for Strengthening of UET Lahore.

A sum of Rs 1203.572 millions has been allocated for University research for the year 2016-2017. More over Rs 120.456 millions approved for the scholarship to the students.

The Syndicate also approved budget for Rachna College of Engineering & Technology Gujranwala for Rs 235.873 millions for the year 2016-17, IB & M Budget of Rs 249.236 millions for 2016-17 and Mian Nawaz Sharif UET Multan Rs 169.430 millions.

Besides this, huge amount of budget was approved for research for young PhD, teachers, increase in salaries and pensions, publications, Day Care centre for Lahore and Day Care centers. Moreover seats have been increased in computer science. It was explained that deficit will meet by generating more income from its own sources.

It the meeting many other academic matters were discussed and the recommendation of Academic Council and Selection Board were approved. Before the approval of budget Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid briefed the house about the working, efficiency, activities of UET for the betterment of the quality of education.
