71 medical officers restored

LAHORE:  As party of decision taken during meeting of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif with Young Doctors Association leadership, the Health Department on Friday restored 71 medical officers (MOs)/women medical officers (WMOs).  These doctors were terminated for absence from duties, instigating colleagues to participate in strike and hindering provision of healthcare facilities at public sector hospitals.
 However, the Health Department has not reinstated young doctors involved in torture on seniors in Gujranwala. The Department has also withdrawn show notices issued to the protesting doctors.
According to the spokesman of Health Department, the doctors has been reinstated and show cause notices withdrawn on the recommendations of principals of medical colleges and medical superintendents of public sector hospitals.
