The CCPO further said that a special cell had been established to resolve the old enmities and it was compiling the complete record of the cases related to old enmities in the provincial metropolis.
He said that the Lahore police were making all out efforts to resolve such enmities and this event certainly proved the sincerity of Lahore police towards its commitment in this regard. He said that the Lahore police had compiled a list of 100 notorious street gang operators to purge the City of criminals. Various police teams had been constituted to round them up, he added.
Representatives from both the parties also spoke on this occasion and they expressed their sadness and regret for the unfortunate killings. They begged for forgiveness from each other’s side and promised to stop causing any more problems and let peace prevail.
The CCPO encouraged both the parties to respect each other and take reconciliation seriously as the beginning of a new journey.  He thanked members of the two parties for their respect and acceptance of reconciliation. He further added that this respect would maintain peace in the family, communities, and the city as whole.
Highlighting the old enmity, SP CIA Muhammad Umar Virk said that Mohammad Din of Umar family was killed and three persons namely Bashir, Hassan and Chanun of Nubha family were sentenced to death. However, the then President of Pakistan Ayub Khan turned their death penalty into life imprisonment.
He said that the three came out of the jail after completing life imprisonment and killed Agha Safdar of Umar family to uphold their supremacy in their area. In 1999, four persons were gunned down outside Anti Terrorism Court Mustafabad Lahore, following the said rivalry.
