LAHORE - Dozens of people staged a strong protest demonstration against police for not arresting the killers of an employee of the SNGL at Shahdara Chowk on Wednesday.
The protesters blocked the road by setting the tyres on fire, disrupting the traffic flow at the main road at least for two hours. A great number of motorists were seen trapped in the traffic mess after the protests suspended the inter-city traffic flow at the Lahore-Sheikhupura road.
The protesters also chanted slogans against the police and demanded the government to ensure arrest of the killers. Junaid Aslam, an employee of the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited, was found tortured to death in a pool in Factory Area a couple of days ago.
The protesters alleged that the police were trying to give clean-chit to the influential factory owners who involved the gruesome murder.
Meanwhile, Lahore SP City police division Asad Sarfraz rushed to the spot and managed to disperse the protesters after holding negotiations with them. He assured the protesters that killers would be arrested soon.
