Motorway police on drive against improper lights

LAHORE - The National Highways & Motorway Police, Central Zone, has started a special campaign to check the vehicles without proper lights. “Vehicles without tail lights or with poor visibility of tail lights can become a cause of serious accidents,” DIG Mirza Faran Baig said yesterday while issuing directives for Motorway police.

Sector Commander Masroor Alam Kolachi was also present on the occasion.

DIG Baig asked the officers to ensure proper enforcement against, and briefing of the drivers using improper lights of their vehicles as this act hampers the visibility of backlights.

The officers of Mobile Education Unit of N-5 Central Zone are also visiting different Bus and Heavy Transport Terminals to brief and educate the drivers about the importance of proper lights while travelling at night and dire consequences which may occur because of the vehicles without tail lights or improper backlights.

A special road safety camp has also been installed at beat 12, Marka. The DIG further asked officers to strongly discourage the usage of halogen lights and the practice of using high beams while driving as it causes inconvenience to others and can result in serious accidents.

All the Sector Commanders have been asked to personally monitor these campaigns to make them result oriented.
