LAHORE - Four new sections including the section 7 of anti-terrorism act has been included in the First Information Report (FIR) registered against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, federal ministers, and others in Model Town tragedy.
Police sources said that apart from 7-ATA, 295-B and 365 are also included in the FIR. Earlier, the report was registered with Faisal Town police under section (302, 324, 109, 148, 149, 395, 427, and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 155/C of the Police Order) on the complaint of Jawad Hamid, Director Administration of the Minhajul Quran. The sections included charges of murder, attempted murder, abetment, robbery, abduction, and life threats besides others.
PAT Chief Tahirul Qadri however had rejected the FIR stating that a section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act was not applied in the 6-page FIR. The case was registered on the complaint of Muhammad Jawad Hamid, director Minhajul Quran.
Police sources revealed that the Punjab government is likely to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe into the Model Town clashes that left 14 PAT workers dead in Lahore’s Faisal Town on June 17.
A police investigator said that they were trying to contact the complainant to record statements of the witnesses and collect circumstantial evidences since the case was registered but the complainant did not appear before them.
The PAT leadership and Minhajul Quran management are present in the anti-government sit-ins in the federal capital since August 14.
