LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Friday disposed of a petition against ban on plying of two-stroke auto-rickshaws at McLeod Road. The petition was filed by Haji Baghi Jan Khan, President Qaumi Tajir Ittehad Auto-rickshaw. The petitioner through counsel submitted that the City District Government in a meeting held last year had decided to convert all two-stroke rickshaws into four-stroke till June 30, 2010. Therefore, two-stroke rickshaws were allowed to ply in City except some particular roads. The petitioner said despite the decision of the said meeting traffic police were restricting two-stroke rickshaws from plying at McLeod Road. SP Traffic Lahore appearing before the court on Friday said that two-stroke rickshaws had not been restricted from plying at McLeod Road till the provision of four-stroke rickshaws to the petitioners.
