Russian-Japanese mum heard

LAHORE - Hearing a petition filed by a Russian-Japanese woman for cancellation of her minor-daughter and former husband’s passports, the Lahore High Court issued notice to Director General of Passport and sought reply here on Wednesday.
Inna Polikarpova filed the suit and submitted that she married Ahmad Naseem Hamayun of Gujranwala District about six years ago in Japan. She said that the wedlock resulted into the birth of a baby-girl who was named as Umaira.
The petitioner’s counsel told the court that they separated after few years over some issues but the respondent took the minor-daughter to Pakistan secretly. He said she came after him to get her minor but he flew away to another country and police failed to arrest him.
The petitioner argued that her minor daughter should be given in her custody if passport of ex-husband Ahmad and minor-daughter was cancelled.
She through her counsel pleaded the court to direct authorities concerned to cancel passport of both the respondents. The court accepted her plea and issued notice to DG Passport with directions to submit reply on next date of hearing fixed as April 17.
