Shahzad Ahmed laid to rest


LAHORE – Prolific writer and poet Shehzad Ahmed, who died on Wednesday, was laid to rest here at a local graveyard on Thursday.
Shehzad Ahmed’s funeral prayer was offered near his residence, the Old Officers Colony Sadar Cantonment at Faisal Shaheed Mosque which was attended by a large number of people from literary circle as well as prominent personalities of the City and family members.
Prominent figures from literary circle including Intizar Hussain, Amjad Islam Amjad, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Atta-ul-Qasmi, IA Rahaman, Dr Mehdi Hasan, Nayyar Ali Dada, Baba Najmi, Dr Ajmal Niazi, Khalid Ahmed attended his burial.
Shahzad Ahmad was serving as Director Majlis-i-Taraqqi-i-Adab till his last day. He rendered all his life to literature and wrote some 30 books on poetry and a number of books on psychology.
He also translated a number of books and poetic collections. He was awarded the country’s highest civil award, the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan.
