LAHORE : Lydia Barraza, who assumed charge as the Press Attaché in Lahore last month, will serve in Lahore for two years, said a press release issued from American Consulate in Lahore. She has succeeded Leslie Núñez Goodman. Barraza’s previous assignment was at the US Embassy in New Delhi, India, where she served as Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer directing cultural programs across North India.
Prior to that, she served at the US Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria, where she worked in the Consular and Political sections, and covered trafficking in persons, human rights, and democratic reform. Before joining the Department of State, Barraza was a fellow for the American India Foundation and worked in New Delhi with an NGO focusing on HIV/AIDS education. She holds a degree in Political Science and International Studies from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and she is a native of Texas. She speaks Spanish, Hindi, and Urdu.
