LAHORE Pakistan Cricket Board Director General Javed Miandad has called PCB chairman Ijaz Butt 'too old to carry on as head of the countrys cricket. With this call, Miandad too has joined forces against the PCB chairman. The chairman has become too old for the position he is holding as he seldom remembers his own important official commitments and agreements, Miandad, who is also a PCB director general, wrote in a letter to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, reported a foreign website. President Ali Zardari is also the patron of the PCB and was responsible for appointing the 71-year-old Butt as chairman in October 2008 in place of Nasim Ashraf. Miandad also threatened to resign from the Director-Generals post if the state of affairs did not improve. A miffed Miandad said at the moment his post was mere ornamental one. Basically they are not allowing me to do anything and I am bypassed in everything even in areas which are supposed to come under my control, Miandad alleged. The former captain, who has fallen out with the PCB chairman, alleged that by ignoring him, the board chief was in fact defying chief patron and President Asif Zardari who had appointed Miandad. I am here because of the chief patron who has appointed me and given me other responsibilities, everyone must understand this. I have no problems resigning because I can earn more from other work. But I am working in the board because of the chief patron, Miandad said. He said he has already written a letter to Zardari, outlining the problems in the board and team and how Butt was working. It is my duty to keep President Zardari informed of all that is happening in the board and the team, he added. Miandad said his vast knowledge of the game could be of immense help but it was upto the PCB to decide whether they want to utilise it. If the board is not interested in utilising my experience and services properly it is their loss but I definitely want to give something back to Pakistan cricket, he said. He was also of the opinion that only cricketing reasons were not behind the teams complete routing in Australia. There are other issues involved behind the poor show like indiscipline and other problems which I dont want to elaborate upon, he said.
