LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting on Friday which reviewed the pace of progress on Saaf Pani Project and Water Filtration Plants Programme. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that potable water was the right of every citizen and the government had made a comprehensive planning for the provision of drinking water to the masses. He said that billions of rupees were being spent on the provision of potable water to the citizens.
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif issued instructions for easy availability of petroleum products to the citizens at the newly fixed rates and that benefits of the decreased POL prices should reach the common man. He said that transferring the benefits of reduction in the prices of petroleum products to the masses was the responsibility of the concerned institutions. He directed that cabinet committee on price control, provincial administration, commissioners and DCOs should ensure supply of petroleum products to the citizens at the fixed rate and there should not be any complaint of non-availability of petrol or diesel at any petrol pump.–Staff Reporter
He directed that immediate action should be taken over non-availability of petrol or diesel as well as against petrol stations owner involved in overcharging. The chief minister said that Punjab government had further reduced transport fares for benefitting the common man from the recent decrease in the prices of petroleum products while immediate measures should also be adopted for reducing the prices of food items, fruits, vegetables and other articles at the same proportion at which prices of petroleum items have been decreased.
The chief minister said that concerned institutions should play an active role for providing relief to the citizens as a result of decrease in the prices of petroleum products so that the common man should fully benefit from this public-friendly step.
