APCA protest continues

LAHORE All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) hold a protest demonstration in front of the Governors House on Wednesday. On the call of APCA, hundreds of thousands employees of different departments reached the Governor House, which resulted worst traffic jam at the Mall. The protesters chanted slogans to press for their demands and also took symbolic execution. Addressing the protest rally, Chairman APCA Mahmoodul Hassan, Provincial President Zafar Ali Khan and others demanded of the government to increase their salaries according to ever increasing inflation and to act upon the recommendations of Pay and Pension Committee. They said if their demands were not entertained accordingly they would staged such demonstrations in front of the Parliament building. On the other hand, employees of Government Printing Press protested against the privatisation of press. The protesters were of the view that the press saved millions of funds every year and printed the government documents confidentially. Govt urged not to close down business centres forcefully Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Ch Zaheerud Din has said that the persons hurling threats on the trader community should bring their assets to the country. He expressed these views while talking to the newsmen at Opposition Chambers on Wednesday. He said that business centres would not be closed down on forced schedules if the rulers have their own businesses in the country and the government was asking for full taxes from the traders who unfortunately were not allowed to run their business operations completely. He demanded that the government instead of hurling threats on the trader community should accept their fair demands regarding continuation of the businesses. Ch Zaheer said millions of Pakistanis might not take to the streets if the federal and provincial governments were sincere in resolving the issue of power shortage.
