'Energy sector projects to get priority in budget'

LAHORE Provincial Minister Finance and Planning Development Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that addressing the energy needs of the country the government in the next fiscal budget is going to allocate funds for the construction of Bhasha Dam which would begin this year. Talking to a delegation of the MPAs at his office here Wednesday, the minister said Punjab government is allocating maximum funds in the provincial budget for the public welfare projects and schemes. He said the provincial government was also going to receive a substantial amount from the federal government under National Finance Commission Award and that amount would be spent on uplifting quality of public life in the province. He also said government concentrating on the ways and means to overcome the energy shortfall in the country is earmarking a handsome amount in the next budget for power generating projects. He said that energy crisis was a national issue and all political forces have consensus to overcome this issue. Tanvir Ashraf Kaira said PPP and PML-N are enjoying good relationship and it is the need of hour that both parties work together for solving problems of the masses. The minister said we must all work for national integrity and mutual prosperity, we must not only think in terms of our individual achievements but we must also focus on the political, socio-economical, regional and International issues as well. DVM student expelled University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore has expelled a DVM student Muhammad Zeeshan as his Inter Board Chairman Committee certificate for equivalence has been declared fake by the concerned offices, Ministry of Education, Islamabad . A press released issued on Wednesday said that Faculty of Veterinary Sciences of the University further confirmed (O and A Level) certificates of the student from the British Council, Lahore and according to the widely circulated notification the admission of the student has been cancelled with immediate effect. All the admitted students in the University their intermediate or equivalent certificates are verified from the concerned Boards/organizations. Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz, Vice Chancellor, UVAS, has appreciated the strict measures adopted and stringent efforts made by the Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences for improving the quality of Veterinary Education.
