No arrests made as police clueless

LAHORE - There was no development took place regarding Wednesdays suicidal blasts on mourning procession at Karbala Gamay Shah which left 37 dead and above 250 injured. Lahore Police were still in a state of confusion as neither any tangible evidence was collected nor any accused linked to the terrorists network was arrested so far. Lahore Police DIG (Operations) Rao Sardar Ali Khan told TheNation that all the aspects were under investigation but none of the terrorists were apprehended. Situation is very critical. A joint investigation team is probing into the matter but still we are clueless, Rao Sardar added. To a query, the DIG said that owing to stampede the policemen deployed on the site disappeared from the scene otherwise analysis regarding security breaches was baseless. Informed sources in Lahore Police Investigation Wing said that police had recovered two skulls of terrorists, which have been sent to laboratory for their DNA test. Mayo Hospital doctors maintained that some three bodies were still placed inside the dead house. We suspect these are the bodies of terrorists but we have no authority to issue any statement. The parts of two other bodies were also covered with sheets, an official said. Meanwhile, the collective funeral prayers of eight martyred people were offered at Nasir Bagh in Lower Mall police precincts on Thursday attended by thousands of the mourners. A sole government representative District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore Sajjad Ahmed Bhutta also visited the Janaz Ghah but he left the site before offering prayers, which further irritated the mourners. Earlier, Jaffaria Alliance religious leaders revealed that the funeral prayers of 12 martyred persons including three from Jammat Ahl-e-Sunnat were offered on individual basis early on Thursday at their local areas. Police stopped the procession to march towards Nasir Bagh to offer funeral prayers. Throughout the route from Bhatti to Mall, police blocked the roads erecting barricades and spreading barbed wires. A walkthrough gate was installed at the entry of Nasir Bagh where police personnel frisked each and every participants of funeral. The religious leaders at Nasir Bagh strongly condemned the silence of the government and alleged that they had soft corner for the terrorists. Talking to the reporters, Imam Khamini Trust head Allama Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi said that Karbala Gamey Shah blasts were an international conspiracy to fan sectarianism in the country. Allama Abdul Khaliq Asadi, central secretary of Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM), said that the militants were badly failed in their intentions as Sunni and Shia were real brothers and any kind of conspiracy would be foiled at all fronts. Both the main sects are enjoying strong religious ties in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and other parts across the world. The leaders also presented three-point agenda including judicial inquiry of the incident, punishment of negligent officers and publicly punishment of those involved in the heinous act.
