Waste management co counts feats

LAHORE - The Lahore Waste Management Company has removed 5,000 tons of waste from 882 open plots during the last 15 days, said Managing Director Khalid Majeed while briefing participants of a meeting held at 90 Shahra-e- Quaid-e-Azam. 
The LWMC has also redressed some 57 complaints received on helpline 1139 regarding dengue issue. To highlight the importance of issue and sensitize masses on anti dengue precautionary measures, communication department organised several awareness campaigns in major markets and government and private educational institutions.  
Moreover, the LWMC carried out a cleanliness and dengue awareness activity at Qila Lakshman Singh, a locality adjacent to Minar-e-Pakistan and sensitised masses on steps needed to taken to combat dengue epidemic.
Schools were also tapped by the team where lectures were delivered on cleanliness and later on students joined the LWMC social mobilisation teams in awareness drive in the markets and sensitised local shopkeepers and buyers.
