Corps commander for bringing special children into mainstream

LAHORE (PRESS RELEASE) - Lahore Corps Commander Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali has said provision of congenial environment for better upbringing of children with mental and physical impairment is moral and social responsibility.

The Commander 4 Corps was the chief guest at a ceremony on the eve of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, held at Rising Sun Institute for Special Children, DHA Campus yesterday.

Addressing the gathering, Lt-Gen Sadiq Ali said a little effort on part of society can conveniently help the special children in exploring their dormant capabilities to overcome mental and physical disabilities. He distributed prizes and certificates of merit among special children.

He also urged the philanthropists and affluent members of society to come forward and contribute for this noble cause.

Earlier, the special children presented a tableau. The other speakers, including Parveen Tawwab, President and founder of Rising Son Education and Welfare Society, Lt Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool, Lt Gen (r) Shahid Iqbal and Mahmood Ahmad, highlighted the significance of Day and emphasized on creating greater awareness among the general public about the capabilities and disabilities of special persons.
