LAHORE – Two women, who have claimed to be alleged victims of a land mafia which is harassing them, have appealed to the IGP and the CCPO, respectively, to provide them justice.
The mafia belonging to the Lytton Road Police precincts, they alleged, had been harassing them through various means since long. According to their allegation, Layton Road SHO SI Akhtar and few other police officers have been backing the mafia. “They, too, threatened our family members,” the duo claimed. Talking to the media persons on Tuesday, Rani Bibi (a widow) and her daughter, both residents of House # 6/53, Arjun Street, Kacha Ferozepur Road, claimed they were being harassed by the land mafia led by Haji Farzand.
The women, who have been living on the third storey of the house, told the media that Haji Farzand has illegally occupied the first floor. “Now he and his accomplices are forcing us to vacate our premises. One day, they thrashed us and looted the dowry of my daughter and ran away from the scene,” Rani alleged. Taking note of the phone call on Police Emergency 15, Lytton Road police reached the spot and later arrested Haji’s accomplices, she added. Haji was also arrested later, she further told the media persons. He is now on bail, she said.
