LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that service to ailing humanity is worship and those who are helping others will earn the blessings of Allah in this world and the world hereafter.
He expressed these views while talking to the members of the executive body of Sundas Foundation who called on him on Friday. He said that Sundas Foundation is playing a commendable role with regard to provision of healthy blood to Thalassemia, Hemophilia and blood cancer patients. He said that government will continue to extend full cooperation to the organizations engaged in welfare activities.
The chief minister said Sundas Foundation is rendering commendable services for saving the lives of thousands of children suffering from Thalassemia, Hemophilia, Leukemia, blood cancer and other fatal diseases and government institutions will extend full cooperation to it in this noble cause.
The chief minister said that Punjab government had launched Thalassemia prevention programme and after 22 districts, its scope is being extended to the whole province. However, he said, there is a need for coordinated measures with collective efforts in this regard. He said that Sundas Foundation and concerned institutions should evolve a programme for prevention against Thalassemia and Punjab government is ready to extend all out cooperation in this regard.
Sundas Foundation Chairman Munnu Bhai and President Muhammad Yasin Khan while informing the Chief Minister about the performance of the foundation said that Sundas Foundation is providing free medicines and treatment facilities to the deserving innocent children suffering from Thalassemia and healthy blood is provided to the poor patients in case of need in all hospitals.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that improvement of public health facilities is included in our priorities and all out resources are being utilized for this purpose. He said that implementation on a big programme of reforms in health sector is continuing which is leaving a positive impact on the uplift of health sector.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Cuban experts in health sector led by Cuban Ambassador Jesus Zenen Buergo Concepcion which called on him, here on Friday.
He said that Cuba has achieved marvelous successes in the public health sector due to hard work and expertise and Punjab government wants to benefit from expertise of Cuba in health sector.
The chief minister said that Cuba has done an excellent work for the improvement of health sector and proved its worth in health sector throughout the world. He said that Punjab government is ready to benefit from Cuban performance and expertise regarding public health.
He said that Punjab government will benefit from Cuban model for the improvement of public health within its resources. He said that Cuban experts should evolve a practicable and durable model for bringing improvement in health sector of Punjab. He said that in the light of final recommendations, the scope of feasible model can be expanded throughout Punjab. He said that Cuban model regarding improvement in health sector is appreciable. Cuban experts in health sector assured to promote cooperation with Punjab government in health sector.
Also, Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting on Friday which reviewed the progress on 1320mw coal power project in Sahiwal.
Shahbaz Sharif said the initial design of Sahiwal coal power project has been prepared and all matters relating to transportation of coal from Karachi to Sahiwal have been settled with Railways authorities.
He said that the project would be implemented transparently by ensuring high speed and quality. He said that the Punjab government had decided to impart training to Pakistani youth in Thermal engineering sector in China. He said that he would review the progress of Sahiwal coal power project after every 15 days.
Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique especially attended the meeting.
