LAHORE - The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has developed a dedicated set of Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS) which would be implemented in homoeopathic clinics all over the province.
These standards have been developed after consultation with experts from the field of Homoeopathy. Surveyors from the PHC, including external experts from the field of Homoeopathy, will conduct inspections of Homoeopathic Clinics to assess the implementation of MSDS. For this purpose a capacity building workshop for internal and external surveyors to familiarise them with the MSDS for Homoeopathic Clinics has already been conducted.
This workshop will be followed by a series of such events designed to assist practitioners in the implementation of MSDS at their clinics. According to the PHC’s spokesperson, orientation meetings to facilitate practitioners will also be organized to apprise them of the PHC’s regulatory mandate to issue licenses based on MSDS implementation. Speaking at a recent meeting, Director Homeopathy Punjab Dr Jamil Akhtar Ghauri appreciated the PHC’s efforts to improve the quality of healthcare service delivery and urged Homoeopathic doctors to register themselves with the PHC.
Apart from the standards for homoeopathic clinics, the PHC has also drafted the MSDS for Matabs and Diagnostic Centres while the development for MSDS for Basic Health Units (BHUs) is underway.
 The MSDS for Category I and II HCEs have already been disseminated and are being implemented at various HCEs in Punjab. The PHC has registered 2860 public and private HCEs and conducted 370 inspections in all districts of Punjab. The Commission has also disposed off 288 out of 424 complaints received from patients and healthcare service providers.
