LAHORE - Muhammad Sajjad of PAF who won bronze medal in the 3rd Asian Indoor Athletics Championships held in Doha 2008, has been tested positive for using banned drugs and has been banned for two years for participation in the domestic as well as international competitions. Sajjad secured bronze medal in 110m hurdles. The Athletics Federation of Pakistan received a report from Dr Gabriel Dolle, an IAAF Anti-Doping Administrator that revealed Sajjad has been tested positive with Norandrosterone in his urine sample. The AFP with immediate effort provisionally banned him for participate in any domestic and international competitions till decision of its case. He was offered an opportunity to have B sample test of his urine from any WADA laboratory but he acknowledged the use of the banned medicine. The AFP has also formed a committee comprising Lt Col (R) Muhammad Yahya (POA) Chairman with Dr. Waqar Ahmed (PSB) and Maj. Mahmood Riaz (AFP) as its members to look into his case. The committee met on April 30 at Islamabad and heard Sajjad and after his admittance of the use of Norandrosterone and the committee clumped a ban of two year on him for any athletics competition within the country and abroad. An official of the AFP said that the federation cannot take such a humiliation particularly from a serviceman.
