LAHORE - The Society of Diabetes and Endocrine on Sunday organised a national conference on diabetes which was attended by experts and heads of medical institutions.
Acting President College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan Prof Khalid Masood Gondal was the chief guest of the conference.
Addressing the participants, Prof Gondal said the CPSP was offering fellowship in 73 disciplines. He said 21000 doctors were getting training under the supervision of over 3000 supervisors in 272 institutions within the country and abroad.
The CPSP has started fellowship in Endocrine and diabetes at par with international institutions. Presently 32 fellows are under training across the country in nine accredited institutions.
CPSP is making efforts to meet the growing needs for endocrine specialists in the country. The trainees will be sent to the developed countries including Ireland for a specific period for higher medical training so that they can serve the public at large on their return, he added.
Society president Prof Muhammad Bilal explained the purpose of holding conference and also the guidelines for the treatment of diabetes.
International Diabetes Federation President Prof Abdul Samad Shera gave a detailed lecture on diabetes.
Prof Naeem, Prof Fakhar Imam, Prof Junaid Sarfraz Khan, Prof Irshad Hussain, Prof Asghar Butt and Prof Ayyaz delivered lectures on different aspects of diabetes and answered to the questions of the participants.
