Man shot dead in broad daylight

LAHORE - A man was killed while his younger brother was seriously wounded in a drive-by shooting in Gulshan-e-Ravi area, police said Wednesday.
Liaquat Ali, father of three, and his brother Muhammad Asif were on their way after appearing before a local court in connection with a murder case, when unidentified motorcyclists ambushed their vehicle on the main road in broad daylight. The unknown assailants started shooting at their car and fled the scene later on.
Both the brothers sustained multiple wounds and were rushed to a hospital, where Liaquat was pronounced as brought dead.
The condition of Asif was reported to be critical till Wednesday night. Liaquat’s body was moved to morgue for autopsy.
Police investigators said that the killers had old enmity with the deceased, who was pursuing a murder case to bring the killers to justice. When inquired, Asif told the police that Asim along with his accomplices carried out the gun attack.
A police official, later, said that a murder case was registered against Asim and his aides. Investigations were underway with no arrest made till last night.
SUICIDE: A 14-year-old boy ended his life by hanging himself with the ceiling fan in China Scheme Gujjarpura. The family told the police that Hassan Ali went to his bedroom and committed suicide.
His body was hanging from the ceiling fan with a rope tied around his neck, as the investigators reached the spot. Police said that the teenager committed suicide after a brief altercation with his family over some domestic dispute. The police handed over the body to the family without autopsy.
FOUND DEAD: A 26-year-old man was found dead from Nawab Town area of Lahore. Police said that the man, yet to be identified, was lying unconscious alongside a road. He was shifted to a hospital, where he expired after sometime.
