Girls outshine boys in Matric result

LAHORE - Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore has declared results of matriculation examination 2010 wherein girls bagged first two over all top positions and third position was secured by a male student and pass percentage remained 60.79 per cent. It is worth mentioning that total 208,520 candidates appeared in the exam out of whom 126,753 were declared pass with the percentage of 60.79 and further 3,000 students who were willing to appear in examination and they sent applications to BISE but they could not appear in the exam due to one reason or the other. It also merits mentioning here that all the top position holders were from private schools and performance of the public schools remained poor in the examination. The result was declared in a ceremony held on Wednesday. Ramla Ijaz, a student of DPS Model Town Lahore, stood at overall first position by getting 1,019 marks out of 1,050 marks. Zabreen Tahir of Punjab School for Girls Township was declared second with 1,018 marks while Muhammad Attique-ur-Rahman of Sadiq Memorial High School for Boys of Khudian (Kasur) secured third poison with 1,014 marks. In the Science Group (among boys) Muhammad Attique-er-Rahman who secured overall third position was declared first in this category while Awais Raza and Salman Aslam secured the second position with 1,013 marks. Arslan Ali of Hera Public High School for Boys Nankana Sahib and Moaaz Ahmad from the same school bagged third positions with 1,012 marks. In the Science Group (among girls): Armla Ijaz who secured overall first position was declared first in this category as well while Zabreen, student of The Punjab School for Girls Township, was declared second as she secured 1,018 marks. Momina Rauf from the Capital Girls High School Shalamar, Lahore bagged third position as she obtained 1,012 marks. In the Humanities Group (among boys): Muhammad Bilal Zaib, a private candidate, bagged first position by securing 971 marks while another private candidate Muhammad Usman got second poison with 926 marks. Hafiz Kashif, a student of Khudian Public Boys High School from Kasur got third poison with 916 marks. In the Humanities Group (among girls): Rabia Zahid, student of The Punjab School for Girls Township, stood first by securing 978 marks while Sania Riaz from Farooqi High School Karim Park Lahore and Anam Yaseen of Pakistan Model High School for Girls Raiwind stood second by securing 975 marks. Khalida Muzzafar and Aqsa Rafaqat of Farooqi Girls High Schools Karim Park Lahore stood third by securing 964 marks. Chief Guest distributed Gold Medals with a cash prize of rupees 20 thousand to the first, Silver Medals and Rs 15 thousand to the second and Bronze Medals and Rs 10 thousand to the third position holders. Supplementary Examination: The secondary school cer-tificate (supplementary) examination 2010 will commence on September 27, 2010. All the eight BISE of the province on Wednesday announced the matriculation result including BISE Lahore where a ceremony for the position holders was held in the examination centre where the BISE Chairman Dr Akram Kashmiri was the Chief Guest. BISE Controller Examination Manzoorulhassan Niazi declared the result on this occasion while the BISE Chairman distributed the medals among the position holders.
