LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said Abida Parveen is a great singer and national asset and her style of rendition of Sufi poetry is unique due to which she is very popular in Pakistan as well as the world over. He announced that the Punjab government would provide maximum resources for the treatment of Abida Parveen. He said artistes especially those who portrayed the culture of a region had a great respect. He said Abida Parveen had popularised Sufi poetry, which was a source of peace and brotherhood in a society. He said on his instructions a medical board comprising specialists had been constituted and she was being provided medical assistance as well as medicines on behalf of the Punjab govt, and would also bear all expenses on the accommodation, travel and look after of Abida Parveen, which was reflective of love and affection of people of Punjab to Abida Parveen.
