OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, 110- member delegation consisting of entomologist, experts, doctors, nurses and officers and officials of concerned departments is leaving for Thailand and Sri Lanka on Monday (today) for getting training on modern lines for treatment and eradication of dengue. Secretary Environment Saleem Sajjad Hotiyana is leading the delegation. Persons going abroad will get training as master trainers and on return they will impart training to others for treatment and eradication of dengue. On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, a long term plan has been evolved for eradication of dengue and all people going abroad have been selected on merit and keeping in view their best performance from all over the province. Elected representatives, government officers of various departments, doctors and family physicians of private sector have also been included in the delegation. Moreover, district government officers of districts affected by dengue, Institute of Blood Transfusion, Agriculture University Faisalabad, local government and community development, LDA, PHA, Finance, Environment and fisheries departments, officers and experts of Institute of Public Health besides Lady Health Supervisors are also included in the delegation. Media has also been given representation in the delegation. The delegation will get training in Asian Institute of Technology Thailand and also visit big medical institutions and hospitals there for enhancing their knowledge and experience regarding dengue. The doctors and nurses included in the delegation will also visit Sri Lanka and get training from various hospitals and medical institutions. These experts will be provided training in disease surveillance, vector surveillance and control and patients management sector. On return, they will impart training to other medical experts, entomologists and other concerned persons for eradication of dengue so that this virus could be controlled effectively on permanent basis.
