Maids sweep ex-judge’s house


LAHORE – Two maids took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs10.5 million from the residence of a former judge in the Gulshan-e-Ravi police precincts.  Police sources said on Monday that the housemaids, identified as Parveen and Shazia, were serving at the house of former judge, Nayyar Iqbal, for the last couple of months.  As they got the opportunity, they collected 155 tola gold ornaments besides national and foreign currency and fled away. The victim family told the police that the thieves took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs10.5 million. The police are investigating.  Aerial firing: police are yet to register the killing of a young girl, who fell victim to aerial firing at a wedding in the Gujjarpura locality late on Sunday. Another victim is still in critical condition at a local hospital.
The family members of the deceased are informed abroad and the police would register the FIR when they would arrive back, a police officer said.
Fozia Bibi and her close relative were standing at the rooftop of their residence in the (Street No 1) Singhpura area to the party when the participants of the wedding resorted to aerial firing to celebrate the event.
Both the girls sustained bullet wounds and were rushed to a local hospital, Fozia succumbed to injuries later.
