OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - 'Kindness of Strangers, a painting and pictorial exhibition by an Australian artist Murtaza Haq was kicked off at Anna Molka Art Gallery, Punjab University College of Art and Design on Monday. Famous artist Rashid Rana inaugurated the exhibition while PUCAD Principal Prof Dr Rahat Naveed Masud, faculty members including Maxim, Ali Azmat, Mughees Riaz and a large number of students and art-lovers were present on the occasion. Talking to media, Dr Rahat said Australian artist had visited various countries of Europe and had visited Pakistan through Hunza valley. She said the exhibition was a reflection of his journey and experiences. Faculty members, students and the visitors appreciated the work quality of Murtaza Haq. The exhibition will continue till July 9. Having developed his aesthetic through the unique medium of aerosol, the works of Haq, also known as Silkor, exhibit a tragic love for tenacious human relations and a search for profound ultimate good. 'Kindness of Strangers is the first of a two-part series of installations which document his extensive travels in an intimate light; using expression and negative space to expose the faces of many unseen and also to explore the concept that within personal particulars, there lies an ongoing truth which binds us all.
